Traceability

To prevent disease spread, movement permits will be issued only for cattle with “no contact” with infected or suspected FMD cases. Records and traceability to the origin will be needed.

Premises Identification Number (PIN or PremID)

A PIN helps state officials quickly alert producers about protecting livestock in high-risk areas due to disasters or disease outbreaks like FMD. It is required to move cattle, semen, or embryos during an FMD outbreak for traceability. Get a free PIN from the State Veterinarian’s office where the animals are located.

Practice Questionnaires for FMD Exposure

Producers can use FMD Exposure Practice Questionnaires to prepare to show “no contact” proof in an outbreak. Keeping records like those above helps speed up the process.
